Coaching skills development programme |
The Issue:
A company programme where internal coaches within the HR department had been trained in coaching skills to support employees across the organisation. The scheme proved initially successful and popular with staff. However, after 18 months the coaches had identified a number of training needs including:
- Difficulties with time management - coaches were having problems using limited time to greatest effect
- Coaches lacked confidence in dealing with issues or obstacles arising from common emotional reactions or negative attitudes such as lack of confidence, anxiety, low mood and lack of motivation
- Some had difficulty in maintaining focus and in setting specific work-related goals with coachees
- Coaches did not feel fully equipped to support individuals struggling to cope within a highly pressured work environment
Our Solution:
A two-day introductory Resilience Coaching Skills workshop with a three month follow up of a one day consolidation. Coaches learned specific skills in:
- Utilising our 10 Minute CBT structured method of identifying and overcoming barriers to change.
- Communication strategies for empowering coachees to make change for themselves.
- New, effective cognitive and behavioural strategies for understanding problems and promoting positive change.
- Understanding and promoting performance-enabling thoughts, attitudes and behaviours
- Key methods of achieving important strategic and individual objectives.
- Skills in working with individuals feeling pressured, stressed or demotivated
The Outcome:
Coaches developed new skills in supporting indviduals and promoting change.
The business benefited as the individuals undergoing coaching were able to make more proactive and positive changes impacting on work performance.
